Gen Z at Work

Bridging the Generational Divide

Gen Z employees are entering organisations in growing numbers and bringing different expectations about communication, career development, and workplace culture.

These differences are often  visible in everyday interactions. Gen Z employees value open and direct communication. Older colleagues may experience this as thoughtlessness or disrespect. Likewise, the more cautious style of senior colleagues may feel fake to younger employees.

Career expectations are changing too. Many young employees place less importance on formal qualifications and expect faster development and more frequent feedback. They are often less concerned with traditional career paths and more focused on building skills and finding meaningful work.

These differences can create tension, reduce collaboration and ultimately affect performance. However,  diversity can also spur innovative thinking and faster learning across the workplace.

This event will explore the realities of working across generations. Through an open and practical discussion, participants will examine common sources of conflict, challenge assumptions on all sides, and identify practical ways to improve workplace communication.

What you’ll gain

A practical session for leaders, managers, HR professionals, and Gen Z employees who want to:

• Understand why generational tensions arise at work

• Recognise how different expectations create misunderstanding

• Hear honest perspectives from both sides

• Learn practical ways to communicate across generations

• Build stronger working relationships at work

Participants will leave with practical ideas for reducing conflict, building trust, and working more effectively across generations.
